１９６６年和歌山県生まれ。八王子市在住。東京外国語大学中国語学科卒業。出版社勤務と平行して写真技術を習得。１９９５年中筋写真事務所設立。ファッション、舞台、映画、ドキュメンタリーの雑誌＆広告企画で撮影を担当する傍ら日本の産業遺構にスポットを当て作品制作。

　２００７年１０月産業遺構としてのチェルノブイリを取材開始するも、放射能汚染にて２２年後もなお沈黙を続ける都市空間に衝撃を受け、その後６度に渡り訪問、数々の作品を残す。２０１１年の福島原発事故後には被災町の許可を得て無人と化した街々の発する静かなメッセージを季節の変化に寄り添って記録している。その詩的な写真表現はドキュメンタリー写真を超越した一葉の美しい絵画のようでもある。

Jun NAKASUJI was born in 1966 in Wakayama, Japan.

He received B.A. in Chinese literature at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

He worked in a publishing company where he learned photographic technique and established Nakasuji Photo Office in 1995. While shooting for magazines and advertisement in fashion, theatre, films and documentary fields, he has been also committed to focus on industrial remains in Japan. He started to shoot Chernobyl as one of them on Oct. 2007. Shocked by the silent urban space of Chernobyl contaminated by radioactivity for 22 years, he keeps visiting the ghost towns in Chernobyl already for 6 times and produced numbers of photo works. Right after the nuclear accident of Fukushima in 2011, under permission of affected area he continues to catch the quiet messages emitted by ghost towns of Fukushima along the time and season.

His poetic photo expression characterizes each of his works as a beautiful painting going far beyond from a mere documentary work.
